Pennsylvania established a task force through an act passed by the General Assembly in 2010. The task force consisted of nine members who investigated the current status of and need for K–12 economic and personal finance education. The report and recommendations were published in 2013. The task force collected information through the Pennsylvania Information Management System and reviewed graduation requirements that were publicly available online. While the task force found this data collection methodology useful, it noted certain limitations. However, the report was able to identify a baseline of personal finance course offerings at the local level. Additionally, the act required the Department of Education and Department of Banking Securities to provide a joint report on the status of programs within the state; the report was issued in 2013 and 2016.
