Teacher in Massachusetts

A teacher in Massachusetts noticed that many of her students’ families worked in agriculture. These families would make a good income one year but make very little the next, depending on the harvest. She recognized how this influenced her students’ understanding of income. Therefore, she decided to focus on teaching emergency savings.  If the families of her students had emergency savings, it would help cover expenses in the case of a bad harvest.
